How the Supreme Court helped Balance the Budget
Author: Casey B. Mulligan
Topic: Supreme court.

It was already said that we had spent trillions of dollars with Social Security and Medicare combined. And now, we are told that we might have to spend even more with the Baby Boomer's generation retiring. As of now, the combination of both the employer and employee payroll tax for Social Security and Medicare is 15 percent. However it would talke near a good 18 or 19 percent to pay for baby boomers retirment. That would be an even bigger problem, because it would only end up depressing the already bad economy. Retired people have seemingly become a strong political force. Not only that, but as their numbers grow they grow they only get more successful. So, to go about fixing this, the government is brainstorming ideas, and while there hasn't been any large effective ones that could work. Different factors, such as the 2008's collapsing of the stock market will keep Baby Boomers at bay until a solution is made.

Opinion: It really sucks that Baby Boomers have put government in a tight bond. Not only that, but the economy is really to bad to even get us out of it. More and more solutions are being made and hopefully we will find the right one. The government might have to do something different with Social Security and Medicare. The information was displayed well. The author did an excellent job.

Ex-President Clinton Undergoes Heart Procedure
Author: AP Medical Writer Marilynn Marchione
Topic: President

Former president Clinton was said to have had stents inserted into his chest to propp open a clogged heart atery. Back in 2004, Clinton had a fairly different procedure when those same clogged arteries landed him in the hospital. There, the former president underwent quadruple bypass surgery to open these arteries which had almost closed completely shut. Doctors described this kind of disease as "progressive" and thaty it requires constant survelliance or it could cause serious damage to the person that has it. The name of this disease seems to be angioplasty. It was said that since his surgery, Clinton has pledged to eat more healthy for both him and his family. For now, he's jus suffering from the natural complications of aging.

Opinion: That sounded horrible what Clinton was goin through. Luckily for him he was able to go through sugery to get it fixed. However he's still gonna suffer from aging, which also is a major bummer. Hopefully things will get better for him as time goes on. Probably not, but then again I'm optimistic. The information was displayed in a great way, the author was good. I had actually never heard of this disease. As a matter of fact, I didn't even know he was as old as 63.

Drop in passengers forcing Delta base closure
Author: AP Airlines Writer
Topic: International

It was said that that the Paris Cincinatti airline service would still continue even after rumors of it closing. The only way to do so would be to possibley bring other crews from other bases to fly the route. Delta, the company that owns the airline service, had planned to add several international destinations beyong the Paris service. However, The ability to fly some of the aircrafts out of the larger hubs would cause many other nessicary changes. Memos were sent out to Delta p pilots planning out capacity increases for specific markets, mainly in Asia. The Cincinatti airport remains as a Delta main headquarters, but the service there had been cut drastically over the years. Lastly, an surprising fact is that the people using the airline service dropped to 13.6 million in 2008 from the 21.1 million in 1998.

Opinion: The Cincinatti airline service seems to be an important one in this fact. I don't usually hear about many services, but this is the first one I've actually read that has actually has an article on it. I think Delta should go ahead and had several more international destinations to the Paris Cincinatti airline service. It was also surprising the drop of people from using the airline service, when I thought they were actually doing considerabley well. The information was displayed well, and the author did a great job.http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35079917/ns/travel-cruising/

How to get a cruise deal
Author: Lisa Cheng and Sherri Eisenburg
Topic: Travel

The article mainly discussed the various ways to get great cruise deals. Many wheres were named or suggested. However, the Travel + Leisure company was nice enough to compile a list of money saving tips or ideas to try and attain the best cruise possible. Because of cruise line's success, many have been starting to rethink their pricing approaches.

“Fares are already on the rise to some extent—some as much as 20 percent,”

This comment was said by Carolyn Spencer Brown, editor in chief of Cruisecritic.com. And with that, some cruise lines are happy to even get customers with the state the economy is in. All and all, finding the right cruise line for your travels is actually an important aspect of traveling. It might be the very thing that makes your trip either really bad, or extremely good. Other ways to get good deals are things such as legwork, or twittering to find better deals.

Opinion: I agree with the fact that finding the right traveling line is important. Mainly because it CAN be the thing that might make or break your trip. To me, it's good that cruise lines are even getting people at all what with the unstable economy and what not. Next time I'd like to see a more indept way to search for specific cruise lines, even though I won't be going anywhere any time soon. The information was presented in a great way and the author did a excellent job.

By: Mathew Saltmarsh
Topic: Business
Date: Janurary 22, 2010
This article discussed the drop in shares all across Asia and Europe. The broad standard of a 500 stock index fell 17.12 points or 1.5 percent all the while the technology heavy Nasdaq composite fell as well. On Wall Street and Europe, various shares rapidy began to drop rapidly, and things were starting to look bleak. Attempts at tighter banking rules were taken as a sign of government trying to look and finally find a way past this financial crisis were taken by Barack Obama himself. It was a made know fact that the prospect of higher rates across much of the region, in contrast with the United States and Europe, which told us we probably don't have it as bade as we thought we did. HSBC's economists believe that the central banks could start coming up with ways to nudge up the interests rates and possibley make things all the more better for us all. More information is hoped to be gathered soon.

Opinion: So It was said that shares dropped all over. It seems to really be effecting business and things of that nature. Because of this, peracautions are being made to try and correct this problem and pull up the rates. Obama seems to be doing his part to help. Hopefully more will be done to try and fix this problems soon so companies can stop losing money.
